The next stage of The Green Canary Project would be to use this part alongside the part AmilGFP (BBa_K1467202) as the two reporters in a multi-gene system with the aim of producing a plant that turns Blue on the activation of the promoter Xa27, induced by the rice pathogen (TALE) AvrXa27. (Similarly, the Yellow chomoprotein would be expressed on activation of the BS3 promoter by the TALE AvrBS3).

GoldenGate compatible AmilCP, Blue chromoprotein

iGEM14_NRP-UEA-Norwich chose to use this part as one of their reporters as the chromoprotein naturally exhibits strong blue colour when expressed.
