ASU iGEM 2023: Beta-FluorinX

Brief Introduction

Our Team is focused on per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), man-made fluorinated organic compounds whose widespread use, environmental persistence, and bioaccumulative behavior have led them to be dubbed “forever chemicals.” This project focuses on the combination of metabolic understanding as well as defluorinating enzymes to create a more robust understanding of how sustainable plastics breakdown may occur.
