FliC E.coli coding sequence
This coding sequence codes the Flagellin C (FliC) protein, filament of the flagellum from Escherichia coli strain.
Flagellin is the main subunit protein which polymerizes to form the filaments of bacterial flagella and is involved to promote bacterial swimming. In the possession of flagellum, bacteria can move what confers them a selective advantage. [1]
It has been demonstrated that Flagellin has the ability to adsorbe precious metal such as Platinum, gold..
Design summary
Starting from the E.coli flagellin sequence ( http://www.uniprot.org/uniprot/P04949 ) we have designed a part to produce this protein in E. coli chassis. All forbidden restriction sites have been removed. Codons have been optimized for E.coli to allow a maximal transcription level.
Proof of functionality
This sequence has been tested: placed under the control of a strong promoter with a ribosome binding site the sequence has been validated as functional. For further information, go on the following link : BBa_K1951008 design
