XRE-pMEL1-NanoLuc reporter module

The XRE-pMEL1-NanoLuc reporter module is a critical component of the AhR (Aryl hydrocarbon receptor) biosensor system, designed to detect and report the presence of environmental toxins, such as polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), dioxins and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs). In this module, the XRE (Xenobiotic Response Element) is the DNA sequence that AhR, once activated by ligand binding, specifically recognizes and binds to. The pMEL1 promoter, which is activated upon AhR binding to the XRE sequence, drives the expression of the NanoLuc reporter gene. NanoLuc, a highly sensitive and small luciferase enzyme, produces a bioluminescent signal under presence of contaminants.
