Retinoid X receptor-alpha(RXRα)

The retinoid X receptor (RXR) is a protein derived from humans. It is a type of nuclear receptor that is activated by 9-cis retinoic acid. RXRs are associated with multiple cellular processes from cell proliferation to cell metabolism. RXRs have the ability to dimer with multiple nuclear receptors, and binding of RXR ligands to heterodimers can stimulate transcriptional activation of RXR chaperone receptors.

In the human body, RXR can bind to the farnesoid X receptor (FXR) as a heterodimer, regulating the metabolic processes of bile acid (BA), lipid, and glucose.
