AraCpBAD + BSMT1
The part BBa_K1065100 is under the control of the inducible promoter AraC-pBAD. This promoter allows to produce methyl salicylate starting from salicylic acid when Arabinose is added to the cell culture.
This part was cloned by the iGEM UniTN Trento 2013 team for the construction of
Wintergreen Devices BBa_K1065102 and BBa_K1065106.
Usage and Biology
BSMT1 catalyzes the conversion of salicylic acid to methyl salicylate, which has a wintergreen smell.
The arabinose inducible promoter BBa_K731201 was fully characterized by iGEM UniTN Trento 2012.
