Medium-chain alkane 1-monooxygenase (Gordonia sp. TF6)
This enzyme belongs to the non-haem di-iron family of monooxygenases and is an integral cytoplasmic membrane protein. It is the catalytic component of the Gordonia sp. TF6 alkane hydroxylase system and as such oxidizes C5-C13 alkanes and C5-C8 cycloalkanes to their corresponding primary alcohols by transferring one oxygen atom from molecular oxygen to the alkane. Together with Rubredoxin 3, Rubredoxin 4 and Rubredoxin Reductase it forms the minimal component alkane hydroxylase system. For more information see the references below.
See BBa_K398014 for the characterized protein generator.
