Administering the engineered bacteria FMK designed by us to a mouse colitis model by gavage resulted in a recovery of colon length shortening, inhibition of immune cell recruitment, enrichment of beneficial bacteria in the gut, and an increase in gut microbiota diversity. The upregulation of pro-inflammatory factors and the downregulation of anti-inflammatory factors are also inhibited accordingly.
