DsbA signal sequence (enables periplasm export)
DsbA encodes a periplasmic disulfide bond isomerase. Lokalized in the periplasm, it catalyzes the forming of disulfide bonds and therefore enables the correct folding of proteins in this compartment.
Usage and Biology
The signal sequence of the DsbA protein linked to the coding sequence of another protein enables export of the latter into the periplasm. The accumulation of the expressed protein in the periplasm can be used for the purification of the protein and to prevent interaction with cytoplasmic components.
