AAC protein (V. dahliae)

Biology

The AAC (NW_009276936.1 VDAG_07535) gene codes for an ADP/ATP carrier protein that helps generate energy for V. dahliae. It is essential for maintaining the ADP/ATP balance by mediating the exchange of ADP and ATP between the mitochondria and the cytoplasm. [1]

Figure 1: ADP/ ATP carrier transports ATP out of the mitochondria into the cytoplasm and brings ADP back in.

Use

This protein can potentially be a great target for impairing fungal growth through the RNAi mechanism of V. dahliae [2].

We designed this part to test if our bacteria could produce dsRNA that targets this protein.
