This promoter comes from opdH-tctCBA-tctDE manipulator system in Pseudomonas aeruginosa and we name it PopdH. The tctD protein can specifically bind to PopdH, repressing its activity. While citrate exists in the peripheral environment, tctD tends to bind with citrate instead of PopdH, and the released PopdH is able to turn on the expression of genes downstream. This is what makes PopdH a promoter that is controlled by the concentration of citrate.
