bluB mutated
This BioBrick is a mutated Version of BioBrick BBa_K4604005, the gene for the BluB enzyme that catalyzes the reaction of FMNH2 to DMB used in the AdoCbl synthesis pathway in E. coli. Ultimately leads to AdoCbl (B12) synthesis in cultures supplemented with cobinamide. Also used in BBa_K4604020 , a more detailed characterization is uploaded there.
Figure 1: Vitamin B12 production from precursors in E. coli. The BluB transforms the reduced form of flavin mononucleotide (FMNH2) to form 5,6-dimethylbenzimidazole (DMB) which then joins exogenously-provided cobinamide to create vitamin B12. Made with biorender.com
