Gal promoter is in the plasmid and genes are cloned downstream of the pGal promoter, so the cloned genes can be induced in the presence of galactose. The galactose promoter can be induced in the presence of galactose and suppressed in the presence of glucose or raffinose.

pGal ppromoter

The purpose of using the pGal 1,10 promoter is to regulate gene expression. In the presence of galactose, it induces downstream of the gene’s mRNA induction and in the absence of galactose, the downstream of the gene's mRNA induction is off.
