AraC-RBS-FhuA

What this part gives upon expression

This part encodes for FhuA directly as it is already in frame with a pBAD/Arabinose regulated promoter. Promoter Induction can occur with 0.1% Arabinose in the culture environment.

FhuA is an E.coli Outer Membrane (OM) protein used for scavenging iron from the nutrient medium. For more information on FhuA visit the FhuA main page (BBa_K259000).

Potential uses of this Device

This part can be used also to create protein fusions by adding other proteins to it's 3' end. Protein fusion can be accomplished straightforwardly using the Bioscaffold-Linker biobricks BBa_K259002.

Protein fusions with FhuA may allow delivery of proteins to the OM of E.coli cells or inclusion into Outer Membrane Vesicles (see iGEM'09 Bristol-BCCS project).
