Cre is an enzyme that performs specific sequence recombination and can be used to delete portions of sequences irreversibly.
Cre has the enzymatic activity of circularly excising the region flanked by recognition sequences called loxP. This part was created to assay the recombination . Since we intended to use it in yeast, the homeostatic promoters ADH1 and CYC1 terminator are those that function in yeast.
