slp promoter
Slp protein stands for stationary-phase lipoprotein, encoded by a carbon-source starvation-induced stress response gene. Transcription of slp mRNA increased in response to carbon starvation (ex: glucose limitation) and during transition into the stationary phase. Slp protein is also a major membrane component in stationary phase cultures grown in complex medium. Slp also directs the synthesis of catalase and expression of OxyR regulator to protect against hydrogen peroxide stress in Escherichia coli.
