EgDes8

EgDes8 encodes ∆-8 desaturase from Euglena gracilis which functions in the Δ-9 elongase/desaturase pathway and could convert C20:2 to C20:3.

Description

The EgDes8 gene encodes a ∆-8 desaturase of 422 amino acids from Euglena gracilis that catalyzes the conversion of eicosadienoic acid (EDA; C20: 2n-6) to dihomo-γ-linolenic acid (DGLA; C20: 3n-6).

Literature

The results showed that the high level of fatty acid desaturase could convert OMEGA-6-eicosanodienoic acid and OMEGA-3-EicosanoTRIenoic acid, and the substrate conversion rate was higher.
