This year, we are pleased to add [https://parts.igem.org/Part:BBa_K4323002 BBa_K4323002]to the iGEM registry and hope that it will prove useful to future synthetic biologists.  Contrasted with the original iGEM registry FitD sequence BBa_K2683006, the improved part [https://parts.igem.org/Part:BBa_K4323002 BBa_K4323002]is one-third the length, includes a His-tag for simple purification, and is proven to be at least as toxic to <i>Dreissena bugensis</i> as the protein produced by the natural organism.

FitD Codon optimized for E.coli

FitD is a protein that is used as molluscicidal toxin. FitD is originally derived from Psuedomonas protegens . This protein has been recognized as a treatment for zebra and quaga mussel populations which are a invasive species in North America[1]. This sequence has been codon optimized for expression in E.coli .

Truncated FitD

This year, we are pleased to add BBa_K4323002to the iGEM registry and hope that it will prove useful to future synthetic biologists. Contrasted with the original iGEM registry FitD sequence BBa_K2683006, the improved part BBa_K4323002is one-third the length, includes a His-tag for simple purification, and is proven to be at least as toxic to Dreissena bugensis as the protein produced by the natural organism.
