dCBD (Double Cellulose Binding Domain)

Binds strongly to microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) via non-covalent interactions. This part is an E. coli codon-optimized version of BBa_K1321340.

Usage and Biology

In our project, we included this part in the SpyCatcher002-dCBD construct for anchoring SpyTagged proteins onto an MCC matrix. Since dCBD binds to MCC, it is used to functionalize an MCC sheet with the OpdA enzyme which is part of the OpdA-SpyTag002 construct. This anchoring takes place by binding of SpyTag002 to SpyCatcher002.
