Usage and Biology

Phyb-mazE-T1

Biology:
Phyb :the promoter of the hyb operon
mazE :antitoxic gene

Design:
We connect MazE with the phyb promoter to ensure that the mazE protein is expressed only under anaerobic conditions, and once the engineered bacteria are exposed to oxygen, drastic changes in oxygen concentration will cause the phyb promoter expression to fail, thus preventing the expression of antitoxins, which in turn will lead to the death of the engineering bacteria
