FutA2 (iron-binding)
FutA2 is a periplasmic binding protein in *Synechocystis sp.* PCC6803, facilitating Fe2+ and Fe3+ iron import (Katoh, 2001; UnitProt, 2020). FutA2 is one of four proteins that comprise the Fut iron transport system, alongside FutA1, FutB and FutC (Badarau, 2008). These proteins share 52% identity and exhibit high redundancy in their roles; however, FutA2 appears to be one of the most abundant soluble proteins found in the periplasm (Badarau, 2008).
