heat-repressible RNA-thermosensor F2
The heat-repressible F2 RNA thermosensor is inserted directly upstream of the gene of interest. The gene expression is then modulated by temperature.
Usage and Biology
RNA thermosensors are non-coding RNA molecules that are thermosensitive. When place upstream of a gene, they can regulate the translation of this gene. RNA thermosensors usually act by changing in the secondary structure due to the change of temperature. These changes will block or free the acces to the ribosome binding site (RBS) to the ribosome and thus regulate the translation. Thermosensors are often present in heat-shock and cold-shock proteins regulation. We used this RNA thermosensors to regulate the expression of a toxin or an antitoxin in our kill-switch
