The F30 scaffold is a short RNA sequence that is transcribed into a tRNA scaffold, it can help improve the fluorescence of RNA aptamers such as iSpinach BBa_K3380150, DIR2s-Apt BBa_K3380151, Malachite Green BBa_K494000 and Broccoli BBa_K3380153
Usage and Biology
RNA aptamers can be expressed in cells to influence and image cellular processes. Aptamer folding is maintained by inserting the aptamers into highly structured tRNA scaffolds. The F30 tRNA scaffold, besides facilitating the fluorescent RNA aptamer folding, helps protect it from being degraded by the RNAses.
