phaA

This part contains the sequence for the gene phaA, the first gene involved in the synthesis of polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB). PhaA codes for the enzyme Acetyl-CoA acetyltransferase which catalyzes reaction of acetyl-coA to form acetoacetyl-CoA. It also catalyzes the reverse reaction, the cleavage of acetoacetyl-CoA, and involved in the reutilization of PHB.1
