Applications of BBa_K3098005

We have used this part to produce Bacteria Cellulose (BC) in E. coli BL21(DE3) successfully. We also have compared the yield of BC in engineered E. coli BL21(DE3) and the source microbe Glucanacetobacter xylinus. We measure the concentration of cellulose in media by anthrone method. Though lower than G. xylinus, the yield of BC in engineered E. coli is also significantly different with the negative control.

NOTE: We got the data above on the condition that uninduced E.coli and E.coli media was diluted to 1/5 and G. xylinus medium was diluted to 1/91.

Furthermore, according to our aim to reinforce silk by BC, we observed the BC secreted by engineered E. coli and G. xylinus on silk surface by electron microscope.
