A popular in vitro purification und detection tag is the Human influenza hemagglutinin (HA) tag (Wilson et al., 1984). It is a glycoprotein which is required for infectivity of the virus. The tag itself is a small segment of the virus commonly used as an epitope tag in gene expression vectors.
