Electrons production (pflB, ACS, FDH, MDH)
This “Electrons production” composite part is composed of pyruvate formate-lyase (pflB: BBa_K3102037), acetyl-CoA synthetase (ACS: BBa_K3102038), NAD-dependent formate dehydrogenase (FDH: BBa_K3102039) as well as the malate dehydrogenase (MDH: BBa_K3102040).
The pflB oxidizes pyruvate and acetyl-CoA while ACS induces the transformation of acetate into acetyl-CoA. Additionally, FDH and MDH lead to generation of cofactors and the oxidation of malate into oxaloacetate. Those are responsible for the production of reduced coenzymes generating electrons and all genes are overexpressed to enhance these mechanisms.
