pGapA-AmilCP

Promoter GapA is naturally occurring constitutive promoter in Escherichia coli.

Usage and Biology

We, iGEM Leiden 2018, have combined this naturally occurring constitutive promoter (BBa_K2610040) from Escherichia coli with the blue chromoprotein AmilCP (BBa_K592009) in order for us to compare it to our novel stress promoter+chromoprotein constructs. GapA is known for its high constitutive expression, as is demonstrated in Figure 1.

Moreover, GapA being a natural occurring promoter there are still possibilities for optimization through radiation. This way variations of this promoter can provide access to an even wider spectrum of colors.
