COMT gene with ribosome binding site
COMT (caffeic acid-O-methyl transferase) from Medicago sativa (alfalfa) with ribosome binding site. Enzyme methylates -OH on C4 of the caffeic acid aromatic ring to produce ferulic acid. COMT is the third gene in the artifical pathway for biosynthesis of vanillin from tyrosine designed by the Edinburgh 2007 iGEM team.
