AIP receptor
AgrC is a membrane-located protein, which can sense specifically mature group 1 autoinducing peptides (also known as AIPs, a kind of intracellular signal molecule) that are synthesized by Staphylococcus. When bound by AIPs, it then will change the conformation and gain the capability to phosphorylate protein AgrA, which can futher activate P2 promotor expression.
Wrong use of this group one agr regulation may lead to adverse experimental consequences. Appliction of AIP-II and AIP-IV into this sensing system will cause inhibition of the agr-regulated expression.
