For the 2016 Team Rice project, we used the fluorescent protein iRFP713 in <i>E. coli</i> for proof-of-concept experiments for our biosensors -- our future experiments would include genes encoding the enzymes to produce the small-molecule pigment Violacein, instead of fluorescent proteins. We placed the promoter pBAD upstream for protein production during these characterization experiments.

For the 2016 Team Rice project, we used the fluorescent protein iRFP713 in E. coli for proof-of-concept experiments for our biosensors -- our future experiments would include genes encoding the enzymes to produce the small-molecule pigment Violacein, instead of fluorescent proteins.
