The positive control is a plasmid with a pLac promoter and we expect to see expression of the RFP gene. The negative control has no promoter for the RFP gene so we do not expect to see the RFP. Our experimental treatment includes a plasmid with the ompW promoter. If the ompW was a functional promoter, we expected to see expression of the RFP gene. This graph shows our promoter did not function as expected because it does not look statistically different than the negative control.
