Fluorescence test show that Hok/Sok maintains fluorescence over a long period of time. This is in contrast to traditional antibiotic selection where we observed a loss of fluorescence over the same period of time due to the acquisition of mutations in the RFP construct. The exact reason as to why Hok/Sok does not lead to a reduction in RFP fluorescence over time is yet untested.

Applications of BBa_K1783003

Uncomplicated transformation. Expression of RFP may differ based on strain of E.coli. According to experimentation, DH5α strain may more optimally express the protein of interest than BL21 strain.
