OmpR Regulated RhlI/LuxI

This part is a combination of OmpR regulated RhlI (produces a quorum sensing molecule, BHL), micF regulated LuxI (produces a quorum sensing molecule, OHHL) and micF RNA. The part was designed to achieve a highly sensitive on-off switch mechanism in the OmpR dependent regulatory system.

The part is designed by iGEM Stockholm team 2015 but could not be created in practice due to lack of time. The function of this part is aimed to depend on the kinase and the phosphatase activity of the EnvZ-Affibody receptor. The purpose is to produce BHL in high osmolarity condition when phosphorylated OmpR expresses RhlI. In low osmolarity condition, it is supposed to produce OHHL as the micF binds to its target site, leading to LuxI expression.
