merA, mercuric reductase from Serratia marcescens
Function
merA is responsible for the detoxification of inorganic and organic mercury compounds. This enzyme is a mercury reductase that converts toxic forms of ionic mercury (Hg2+) to the less toxic form of volatile mercury (Hg0) in a NAD(P)H dependant reaction.
