AtrΔ11
Delta 11 desaturase from Amyelois transitella. Codon optimization was perfomed for Nicotiana benthamiana.
Usage and Biology
The AtrΔ11 protein is a delta 11 desaturase coming from Amyelois transitella which introduces a desaturation in fatty acids at the 11th bond.
acyl-CoA + reduced acceptor + O2 = Delta11-acyl-CoA + acceptor + 2 H2O
Our team used it in with Part:BBa_K1554002 to produce the insect pheromone Z11-16:OH in Nicotiana benthamiana using palmitate:CoA as precursor. It was also used with Part:BBa_K1554003 to transform Z11-16:OH into antoher insect pheromone, Z11-16:OAc.
