UCL iGEM 2012 redesigned this part with the purpose of increasing the adhesive properties of E. coli and marine bacteria Oceanibulbus indoliflex and Roseobacter denitrificans. To do so we removed the cobalt inducible promoter to produce a stand alone operon with rbs.

We further modified this part by the addition of a constitutive promoter and T7 promoter, and verified curli expression using congo red binding assays.
