The heat inducible promoter K33801 regulates the expression of sucrose sucrose fructosyltransferase (SST) gene and a toxin-antitoxin (TA) system compatible with part BBa_K899006. The TA system in this part contains ccdB as a toxin and MazE as antitoxin. It should be noted that since we put the antitoxin last (and the antitoxin degrades faster than the toxin) there should be a gtg start codon for the toxins in this part and BBa_K899006 and a ATG startcodon in front of the antitoxins. This should equalize the relationship between antitoxin and toxin molecules.

Don't let the picture below fool you! The arrows only indicates that the genes (FFT and SST) comes from each plasmid, not specific genes. It could look like it was the toxins that produced the inulin (which it is not!). Also please disregard the bottom compartment, as it is related to another aspect of our project. heat inducible SST with TA system compatible with BBa_K899006

This system is designed to prevent horizontal gene transfer, since any bacteria receiving the plasmid will produce the toxin, without the antitoxin fitting, and die.

Don't let the picture below fool you! The arrows only indicates that the genes (FFT and SST) comes from each plasmid, not specific genes. It could look like it was the toxins that produced the inulin (which it is not!). Also please disregard the bottom compartment, as it is related to another aspect of our project.
