Acyl-ACP Reductase (AAR) - Synechococcus elongatus PCC7942
This part encodes an enzyme that reduces cellular fatty acyl-ACPs, from the bacterial fatty acid biosynthesis pathway, into fatty aldehydes. Use together with Aldehyde Decarbonylase (ADC) to generate alkanes from acyl-ACPs. This part has been codon-optimized for E. coli.
Usage and Biology
The [http://2011.igem.org/Team:Washington 2011 University of Washington iGEM Team] worked out conditions to grow E. coli containing AAR and ADC to generate alkanes.
