A portion of the aceBAK promoter region that comprises of the promoter as well as the IclR binding sites.
IclR inhibits the aceBAK gene in conjunction with pyruvate or glyoxylate by binding these sites on the aceBAK promoter. There are 8 IclR binding sites in our version of the aceBAK promoter. When occupied, these binding sites inhibit the ability of the polymerase to bind to the DNA. Thus the more likely the IclR is to bind the aceBAK promoter, the less likely it is to have downstream genes expressed.
