cwlJ + sleB, B. subtilis germination genes
Both CwlJ and SleB are germination specific cortex hydrolases (1, 2). Although SleB has a major effect for the germination, cwlJ's effect is minor. However Bacillus subtilis with double mutation without cwlJ and sleB were not able germinate again (2).
To control the germination rate tightly, cwlJ and sleB genes are combined to make this device.
