araBAD promoter from Salmonella Typhimurium
This is the native promoter of the Salmonella typhimurium araBAD inducer system. PBAD initiates transcription during high L-arabinose and low glucose levels, as PBAD forms a complex with L-arabinose (Guzman et al., 1995).
As a part of our project "TargetTaxi", we aim to use this promoter to regulate the expression of the SPI-1 master regulator, hilA. Thereby, allowing the overexpression of SPI-1 type 3 secretion machinery and its assembly at the cell poles. The presence of the machinery at the cell poles will result in its presence in the membrane of minicells.
