Theophylline actif aptazyme
An aptazyme is an aptamer-ribozyme combination with intrinsic RNA cleavage activity. This aptazyme sequence is specific for the theophylline (ligand). Theophylline (1,3-dimethylxanthine) is a drug used in therapy for respiratory diseases and is structurally similar to theobromine and caffeine. Aptazyme is composed of 3 different parts, a twister ribozyme module, a communication module, and an aptamer module.
The described anti-theophylline aptazyme is an switch-off. Its catalytic activity (self-cleavage) requires the absence of ligand.
