An aptazyme is an aptamer-ribozyme combinations with intrinsic RNA cleavage activity. this aptazyme is specific for the guanine (liguant). He is composed in 3 differents part, a twister ribozyme module, a communication module and an aptamer module This aptazyme is a ON-switches aptazyme, this mean that in the presence of liguant the RNA self-cleaves and in the absence of liguant the RNA does not self-cleaves. This mean that you can sense the guanine in a medium with this aptazyme.
