KaiC coding region

SUMMARY

It is the core part of the Kai circuit, acting as a hexamer. This part can be both auto phosphorylated and dephosphorylated, and it can achieve about 24 hours of phosphorylation-dephosphorylation oscillation under the regulation of KaiA and KaiB.
Each KaiC monomer has two subunits, N-terminal CI subunit and C-terminal CII subunit. Each CII subunit has 431 serine (S431) residue and 432 threonine (T432) residue phosphorylation sites. Therefore, KaiC monomer has four possible phosphorylation states, showing different functions. SasA proteins will affect downstream signaling pathways, when it is phosphorylated by KaiC hexamers in a specific phosphorylated state. A separate fragment is 1560bp.
