FruR from Escherichia coli
This part is the FruR (i.e. cra) found in Escherichia coli K-12 (ECK0081).
Usage and Biology
FruR is transcriptional repressor-activator for carbon metabolism [1]. It activates transcription of genes involved in Krebs cycle, glyoxylate shunt and gluconeogenesis and represses genes involved in sugar catabolism, such as FruB.
Our team used this transcription factor together with the pFruB promoter (BBa_K2448017) to build a Fructose biosensor (BBa_K2448032). The results shows that FruR behaved as predicted under and without induction.
