This is a photolyase that exists in the Tardigrade species Ramazzottius Varieornatus. It was discovered as a homologue to the photolyases that exist in cyanobacteria.
Usage and Biology
Photolyases are proteins that reverse the damage done to DNA by UV-B and UV-C radiation. UV radiation is known to cause thymine dimers in the DNA of organisms, leading to improper DNA replication.
