PTS1 variant P*
Pex5 is one of two peroxins that mediate protein import into the peroxisomal matrix. Proteins, destined for the peroxisome, are tagged with so called peroxisomal targeting signals. Whilst Pex5 detects the Pts1, Pex 7 detects the Pts2.
In the process of our project we came up with several Pts1 variant that were supposed to function in combination with designed Pex5 variants. This part is one of the Pts1 variants we came up with − it is the result of molecular dynamics simulations. We call it P*.
