miR172 target sequence

It is the target sequence of miR172, a modularized DNA part from a set of chemically synthetic oligo DNA library.

Usage and Biology

MiRNA locker assembled by using this modularized DNA part was able to bind miR172 in an Ago2 dependent manner, that is, knockdown of miR172 was achieved by transfecting cells with miRNA locker.

Ghr-miR172 is observed in all four tissue of cotton. And it is expressed at high levels in the immature ovules but at relatively low levels in fiber-bearing ovules and fibers. This miRNA maybe important to fine-tune developmental and metabolic pathways during early stages of fiber cell initiation and elongation. This miRNA may serve as a negative regulator for cotton fiber development if its targets play a positive role. Alternatively, the miRNA may positively affect cotton fiber development if its targets are negative regulators.1
