It has been adapted to regulate gene expression and is used in molecular biology. It is also modified with an LVA tail for rapid degradation of the protein.

This biobrick was used to characterize BBa_K195613 – a GFP expressing device that is under control of cI sensitive promoter in vivo .Obtained data indicates that this biobrick (BBa_K077039) might be prone to high unpredictability of protein output, due to combined effects of low translation levels of cI protein (weak RBS) and the instability (LVA tail) of the protein.
